Today is A BIG DAY! I am pleased to announce ✨RoboCat Café✨ my new game coming soon on Steam!
And this time we are going to the distant future of the 2000s! That one that never happened, sadly, but in my new game you can finally get to experience it.
After Pretty Sweet! I kept thinking about the direction I wanted to take with BerryLemonade Studio and my vision hasn’t changed: I want to help fill the gap of unapologetic cute and feminine games with a touch of nostalgia that we’ve all been craving for, no matter your identity. So I came up with a bunch of ideas.
I studied “girly games” at length and had multiple Ideation sessions. Then I organized the ideas in different games and evaluated the technicality of them. I also honestly assessed my own skills as a developer and artist to come up with the order of games I wanted to develop and that made the most sense for this stage in my career.
And RoboCat Café is the first on the list! It’s a small café management sim. It’s light, relaxing and evoques nostalgic feelings of the Y2K era.
And it’s got cats!
I love the optimistic vision of the future of the early 2000’s. There was a lot of blue and a futuristic vibe. I also wanted to incorporate some later noughties aesthetics like McBling, Frutiger Aero and Vaporwave. I’m working on getting more decoration options soon!
And even though this is a game with robots involved I’m proud to say this is 100% human made and there’s a lot of heart and soul in it!
I think the trailer represents the vision well. And remember to turn the sound on because Emily (our composer) created an absolute BANGER of a song.
